The Green Witch
Originally released as The Way of the Green Witch in 2006.
This has been my most popular book.
It was the third book I wrote, and the first written that really reflected my own approach to practicing everyday nature-based spirituality, a theme I was to continue in The House Witch and later Green Witch titles.
With a new baby who arrived two months ahead of schedule, I discovered that the rhythm of my life changed in such a way that I no longer had the capability of following the energy of the day or my own energy as it needed ritual or spellwork to express or regulate itself. I had to find a way to integrate my spiritual practice into my daily life.

The House Witch
Originally published as Way of the Hedge Witch in 2009
The House Witch was a natural next step for me after writing The Green Witch. Hearthcraft is one of the cores of my personal practice. The home is one of the most important spaces in your life, be it long-term or temporary. It’s in your best interest to make it as secure and supportive as possible, even if it’s just a single room in someone else’s house.

Spellcrafting: Strengthen the Power of Your Craft by Creating and Casting Your Own Unique Spells
Originally published as Power Spellcraft for Life: The Art of Crafting and Casting for Positive Change in 2005
This was the very first book I published.
I was working with Provenance Press as a consultant when the editor suggested that I write one of the books in the For Life series. She proposed the spellcraft title. I’d been teaching a two-part course in spellcraft for a while and had material that I could use as a basis for the book, I agreed. It was the first book I wrote for publication, and it taught me a lot of important things about the process.

Wicca: A Modern Practitioner’s Guide
Originally published as Solitary Wicca for Life in 2005
This is the only Wicca-focused book I’ve written; everything else is general witchcraft and eclectic nature-based spirituality.

The Pregnant Goddess
Originally published as Pagan Pregnancy: A Spiritual Journey from Maiden to Mother in 2008
When I became pregnant, I looked for material on how to grow spiritually through it. I was frustrated to find very little that wasn’t Christian-centered. And so, in typical Arin fashion, I wrote the book I had wanted to read during my first pregnancy. How could I practice my nature-based spirituality and do energy work safely during gestation? What was a way to explore and appreciate the shifts in my own energy and psyche as my pregnancy progressed? How could I look to the mythology of the triple goddess to guide me from the stage of Maiden to Mother?

The Hidden Meaning of Birds
Originally published as Birds: A Spiritual Field Guide in 2012. So spoke Hamlet the famous words challenging the perceived wisdom of what was, is, and can be known about the world. I found myself thinking about them upon the arrival of the copy of the forthcoming The Hidden Meaning of Birds – A Spiritual Field Guide by Arin Murphy-Hiscock. Focusing on the mythopoetic side of the birds so many of us spend so much of our time observing, this new guidebook expands the range of information presented about its included species far beyond what might be expected in a traditional field guide.

The Witch’s Book of Self Care
The critical need for self-care as a general theme kept surfacing in my life for a few years leading up to this book. My publisher suggested I write something along the spiritual self-care line, and I was struck by how timely it was in my own life. I got to examine my coping mechanisms (both positive and negative) and isolate the ways in which I handled stress, and work through them in a way that helped me, and could also help others.
It also had the associated consequence of a divine two-by-four, the effects of which I’m still handling. I was juggling a zillion things when I was asked to write it, and I had to weigh the pros and cons before accepting the offer. In the end I decided putting the book out there was important enough to short my own self-care for a while. I got through it, and my doctor placed me on formal medical leave for eight months after this book was handed in.

The Green Witch’s Grimoire
I talk a lot about keeping clear records in all my books, and there are good reasons for that.
I love to journal. As a writer, I also love blank books and fancy pens. As an academic, I know how critical it is to keep track of your sources and be able to return to them. As a witch, I know I need to make detailed notes after improvised spells and rituals, clear lists of ingredients for various herbal combinations for different purposes, and be able to consult previous records to update results and consequences, all in the name of making my practice as informative and coherent as possible.

The Green Witch’s Garden
This isn’t and was never intended to be a gardening book. What it is, rather, is a book about how to weave magic into your gardening, and how to bring gardening into your magical practice, even if you live in a one-room apartment that faces north.
